In Bosnia and Herzegovina the number of multi-problem families is increasing constantly due to the effects of the war and the deterioration of the socio-economic situation. Growing up in a multi-problem family endangers the social-emotional development of a child, self-confidence is often low. Feelings of depression are not uncommon and often these children are less able to share their thoughts, intentions with others and could feel isolated from their community. All of these factors significantly reduce a person’s quality of life and make integration into society more difficult.
Official start of the project "Today`s children are tomorrow`s parents" is presented by PR campaign with the main message "THEY LEARN FROM US". PR campaign is aiming at raising awareness amongst both the general public and the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina about the position and needs of children from multi-problem families, as to create favourable assumptions for adequate and timely support to the children at risk.
The Project has secured the grant fund to support non governmental organisations in the process of establishment and operational work of 6 day care centres in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will focus its interventions on provision of high quality and child focussed support for children from multi-problem families. The main criteria for provision of project support to the selected non-governmental organisations will be experience in their work with children at risk and secured local contribution (financial and/or in-kind) to the operational and effective work of the centre. |
